Live Release Rate
In 2022, our Lifesaving Percentages (based on Asilomar Live Release Rate formula) were 99% for dogs and 98% for cats.
In 2021, HSoMC placed 2,190 animals. Placements include adoptions, transfers and return to owners. That equates to over 6 animals per day including holidays and weekends during a global pandemic!

This support means that we can continue to provide vital assistance to pets and families in need in our community. The Pet Pantry Program not only ensures that furry companions hav access to essential supplies, but it also eases the financial burden on loving pet owners during challenging times.

2024 HSoMC Mascots
Lincoln
The HSoMC 2024 dog mascot is Lincoln, an Irish Doodle, owned by Morgan and Logan of Midland, Michigan. Lincoln was born in Illinois in 2019 and made the exciting journey to Michigan shortly after. He is a true doodle… energetic and loving to his core. He can run all day or sleep by the fire… as long as his family is nearby. He spends every morning riding in the car for school drop offs, making many parents smile and laugh as his head hangs out the window in the parking lot, eagerly waiting for mom to get back in the car. “Linky” (as he is affectionately also called) loves to swim, play with his 3 little two legged humans and on occasion, to Morgan and Logan’s dismay, even enjoys taking a jaunt through the trash and laundry hamper when his family is away!
Lincoln always holds steady and calm while their infant daughter Lenora pokes and prods him over and over. He will fetch for hours, chase squirrels and chipmunks but above all he is that loyal, “All American” dog many of us dream of having at least once in our lifetime. They hope to have many more years to come with him yet!
Morgan and Logan felt it was fitting to have Lincoln as the mascot because he represents all that is good in dog ownership and they want to help support the HSoMC in helping other families make the same connection.
Bootsie and Charlotte
Presenting the HSoMC 2024 cat mascots, Bootsie and Charlotte, proudly owned by the Srebinski family. Their adoption story is a heartwarming tale of feline companionship that began when Bootsie, a lively Orange Tabby, was welcomed into the family in early 2016. Named by their oldest child, Bootsie’s moniker, though humorous, perfectly reflects his playful and charming nature.
Charlotte, the elegant Grey British feline, joined the family in 2021, bringing with her a sense of sophistication and grace. With her regal demeanor and British heritage, Charlotte quickly found her place among the family members.
Despite coming from separate adoption times, Bootsie and Charlotte immediately formed a bond, spending their days gazing out the window at birds, enjoying lazy afternoon naps, and even making occasional appearances in corporate meetings (thanks to Mrs. Srebinski’s remote work setup).
Asserting their authority over the household, both felines make it clear to the Srebinski family dogs, Labrador companions, that the house belongs to them, and everyone else is simply a guest.
Bootsie, known for his affectionate nature, favors Mrs. Srebinski’s lap, where he can often be found lounging or engaging in gaming sessions with their son. Charlotte, on the other hand, enjoys cozying up to Mr. Srebinski or perching behind his head during quiet evenings.
The Srebinski family is thrilled to have Bootsie and Charlotte represent them as this year’s HSoMC mascots, showcasing not only their love for their adopted pets but also their commitment to supporting the shelter and its mission.
